چکیده
Understanding the variability, heritability, and genetic advance in maize is crucial for efficient plant breeding improvement programmes. The present investigation was conducted to evaluate various parameters related assessment of variability nature associations among traits affecting grain yield 80 genotypes (Zea mays L.) at Research Farm, Department Genetics & Plant Breeding, College Agriculture, Gwalior, M.P., India during Rabi seasons 2019-20 Kharif 2020-21. analysis variance revealed that highly significant differences exist inbred lines, their hybrids checks all characters. Under irrigated partial conditions, viz., days 50 percent tasselling silking, anthesis silking interval (ASI), height membrane stability index exhibited high GCV PCV. characters with highest heritability coupled higher were found namely: 50% tasselling, interval, height, numbers kernel rows per cob, rows, seed (g), cobs plant, maturity, cob girth (cm), turgid weight saturation water deficit both under conditions. High as mean indicated preponderance additive gene action controlling traits. Hence direct selection such would be effective improving maize.

Estimation of heterosis for grain yield components in Maize (Zea mays L.)
Heterosis plays an important role in achieving improvement in crop production. About 69 F 1 hybrids obtained by crossing twenty three lines and three testers in a line × tester fashion were used to derive the information on degree of heterosis over mid, better and standard parent in maize. Sixty nine crosses and their parents including one check CoH(M)5 were evaluated in a Randomized Block Desi...
متن کاملGenetic Analysis for Yield Potential and Quality Traits in Maize (Zea mays L.)
Abstract: Grain yield is a complex phenomenon which results from the interaction of various contributing factors highly influenced by environmental variation. Phenotypic selection cannot directly improve the characters in heterozygous crops like maize unless dissected by genetic analysis. Gene action for various quantitative and qualitative traits was explored in a complete set of diallel invol...
متن کاملAllozyme Frequency Changes Associated with Selection for Increased Grain Yield in Maize (ZEA MAYS L.).
Frequency changes of alleles at eight enzyme loci were monitored in four long-term maize selection experiments. The results indicate that changes in frequencies of the alleles at these loci are associated with changes due to selection for improved grain yield. The frequencies changed more than is consistent with the hypothesis of selective neutrality. In addition, significant deviations from a ...

Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation is an effective method for introducing genes into maize. In this chapter, we describe a detailed protocol for genetic transformation of the maize genotype Hi II. Our starting plant material is immature embryos cocultivated with an Agrobacterium strain carrying a standard binary vector. In addition to step-by-step laboratory transformation proced...
متن کاملGenetic analysis of yield, yield-components and related phenological traits of maize (Zea mays L.) to breed under moisture stress conditions
Improved drought-tolerant maize hybrids would significantly reduce water consumption and increase yield in arid environments. Our knowledge about genetic parameters is very essential before starting a successful breeding program. The present research was carried out throughout three successive years between 2013-15 to reveal the pattern of inheritance in yield, yield-components and related...
